Little Bears Pre School provides sessional care for children from 2 years of age until they start school. We also offer a toddler stay & play group aimed at 0-3 years old every Wednesday 9.30am – 11.30am during term time.
We offer session times throughout the week and our lunch club for all children.
We offer a substantial range of activities and provide a stimulating environment for children to explore and learn through play.
Lunch club and snack
Children bring their own lunch with them, and sit and eat with their friends every day.
We offer a healthy range of items for daily snack. This includes: Raisins, breadsticks and two types of fresh fruit. We also provide fresh milk as a nutritious drink and have a water dispenser which is available to all children at every session. This is all included in your hourly fee.
Shebbear Community School
We are situated within the grounds of Shebbear Community School and most of the children go from our Pre-school to this school when they are old enough. Little Bears Pre-school has close links with the school and we make visits to the school for stories and other activities and they sometimes visit us!! Little Bears
Little Bears Pre-school has been a group for over 30 years and is a registered charity. It is run by a team of volunteers who form a committee. This committee is made up of parents/carers of children that attend the school. We are located in the heart of Shebbear village in the secure grounds of the local school.
The Pre-school is registered with Ofsted and proudly received an outcome of ‘good’ in our latest Ofsted report. The report quoted: “Little Bears Pre-school provides a high quality nursery education which helps children to make a very good progress in all six areas of learning.” To see the full report please click here.

I have been working at Little Bears Pre-school since September 2001, and I still feel as passionate about working with the children as when I stared here. I strive to create a warm and friendly inviting environment for both children and their parent/carers.
I joined the Little Bears team as bank staff a few years ago and I have now become a regular member of staff.
I look forward to providing lots of exciting learning opportunities for the children at Little Bears.
